Studio Makeover

In my recent search for inspiration for my home office/guest room, I came across this great studio/work space overhaul over at ish and chi. She has fantastic taste.  I love what she did here.  Check out this before & after.

I love how light and airy it feels. Her choice of color scheme is soothing and calming.  Perfect combo for a work space.

This painted cupboard which she has all her fabrics organized in is so perfectly fit for the space. She painted the inside too! So smart!

I must admit, I’m definitively in awe and slightly jealous.  I hope my space ends up just as lovely(and organized). You can check out more photos/info over at ish and chi.

Color Fun Friday! So Fresh Lime!

lime-green-interior-decor

Green is life.  Abundant in nature, green signifies growth, renewal, health, and environment.   It is a restful color with some of the same calming attributes of blue.   With both a warming and cooling effect, the color green denotes balance, harmony, and stability.   It will liven up any space.   Try adding an accent piece or two of the vibrant lime green, and see if it changes up the feeling of your space.

I love these bamboo Jonathan Adler Chippendale chairs.  They add a fun pop of color but maintain a sophisticated feel.  The green roman shade brightens up the space.

A subtle use of lime green.  A really nice contrast to the stark white bedroom.

I’m diggin this ceiling! What a great concept.  And I love the shade of green for this kitchen island.

Who knew lime green would be such a great accent color for turquoise?  These contrasting colors would be a great choice for a teens/kids room.

I’m a big fan of this Chinese wardrobe.  I guess they’re using it as a buffet or storage piece for the dining room.  I usually see them painted red, but never this awesome lime green. Probably my fav from the image collection today.  I just love this space!

Hmmm…this one is a close second for my fav above.   The whole blend of colors here suites me just fine.   The geometric rug, pink vases and those great storage tables painted lime green. These colors look so lovely together!

This screams fun! I’ve been seeing painted interior doors around quite a bit lately.  I think it a great way to introduce a fun color to brighten up any space.   Remember this one?

These different shades of green blend seamlessly.  Graphic pillows make great accent pieces.  These two add a bit of whim to the otherwise traditional feeling space.

What a pretty nursery. I really love the brown/lime combo.  It’s done beautifully in this nursery.  What a cool rocker too!

Do you have a fav?  Diggin the lime green?  Do tell….

Color Fun Friday! Red Hot!

red-rose-styledhaven decorating blog

Red is the most arrogant, attention-grabbing, and energetic color of the spectrum. In terms of temperature, it is the warmest color.  Emotionally, we relate red to love and passion.  It is the color that excites us most and makes us take notice.  Red raises a room’s energy level.  It’s a good choice when you want to stir up excitement, particularly at night. In the living room or dining room, red draws people together and stimulates conversation.  However, it is usually considered too stimulating for bedrooms.  Red is definitely bold and should be used thoughtfully throughout your home.  My favorite way to use red is mostly through accent pieces like art, area rugs and lamps.

Love these curtains!   They make such a statement and bring your eye right to the windows.

I’m liking the red/white combo in this living room.  That red panel is awesome!

Um. Yes to this red sofa with all this turquoise.  Remember my Turquoise Color Fun Friday ?

I like how everything is pretty muted with a neutral palette and then there’s a pop of color with the red pendant light.

Simple accent with the chair and the pillows. It brings a little spice to the mostly white room.

How does the color red make you feel?  Do you have any red in your home that you just love?  Hate?
