Awesome Up-cycled Chair!

I came across this awesome before and after chair that I just had to share. It never seizes to amaze me how easy it is to make something old look fresh and modern. I’m a lover of thrifting,  making old things new and fresh, but I would probably pass this one up.

Check out this before…

Pretty ugly right. Do you see any potential in this?

You have got to see how amazing this after picture is…

Can you believe it?  Looks great right?

Color Fun Friday! Yellow + Gray = Love!

yellow_gray_interior_design

I just cannot get enough of this color combo right now. You see it all over blogs and design mags these days and it will probably stick around for a while. It’s modern, sophisticated and fun. It is also super versatile. It can be used in any room from a kitchen down to a nursery. Mixing different tones/shades of the yellow and gray can produce endless possibilities for any space.  Can you tell I’m a fan?

Right off the bat, I just love this wallpaper. It feels modern and sophisticated. The yellow and different shades of gray really add an element of interest without being overwhelming.

I like the mix of industrial and modern in interiors. This yellow barn door is right up my alley.  It adds unexpected interest to the room in the perfect color.

These hues of yellow and gray seem more muted and subtle. Perfect for a bedroom.  I love the striped linens.

This kitchen in mostly gray with pops of yellow thrown in. I love that gray can act a a neutral background for some pops of fun.

This space feels super sophisticated to me.  The art could have been the inspiration behind the design of the room. Did you know that is a great way to decorate a room?

This room is pure fun.  Along with the yellow and gray palette, I love the geometric area rugs.

Cleans lines, great colors and great furniture. Nuff’ said…

This bathroom is super cute. Who says you can’t put a decorative mirror inside the shower!? The yellow and gray color combo works great in this cutie bathroom.

I am in awe of this headboard/artwork collection. I want to do something like this in my home.  Again, the colors work great and the white is a great addition to the combo.

This one stopped me in my tracks. Thom Filicia for Kravet. Simply beautiful! And a testament that this combo isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. There’s nothing about this space I don’t like.

What are your thoughts about this color combo trend? Love it like me? Did you know gray is spelled with an “a” in America and with and “e” in England?

Color Fun Friday! True Blue!

blue-image

All colors influence the mood and feelings evoked in an interior space, none more so than the color blue. Using blue in your interior space can produce a calming serene feeling in your space and at the same time it can evoke a more energizing feeling if you choose a darker and brighter hue.  Blue is the coolest color – the color of the sky, ocean and twilight. It invokes rest and can cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming. Electric or brilliant blues become dynamic and dramatic, an engaging color that expresses exhilaration.  It is for this very reason that the color blue is so popular in interior design.

This blue accent wall looks great at the backdrop for the complimentary colored sofa. I like the addition of the yellowish/gold pillows and shade.

I love the color of this accent chair!  Blue is an easy color to layer in different hues. This bedroom is a great example.

Something about this room really gets my attention. Most likely all the layers of color and texture, in addition to all modern furniture. What a cool wallpaper! So retro!

I’m really into these dark shades of blue. They really add a rich depth to this space. Again, the layers of colors and textures are beautifully done in the room.

Forget blue on the walls, lets paint the floor! So cool! It’s like having the ocean in your home!

I love the contrast between the blue wall and the green headboard. It draws your eye right to it.  Where can I get this nightstand-its so cute!?

This all blue and white design is a classic.  I like the curtains and the print on the stool. I wouldn’t mind putting on my make-up here.

This bedroom is the definition of serene for me.  It evokes such a soothing and calming feeling.  Looks a little like  a room that could be in a boutique hotel.

This area rug is such a cool pattern. The layers of blue in this room really balance well together.

It’s no secret that I love modern furniture. Especially if it’s covered in this super cool blue fabric.  I just love this little nook!

What’s your favorite shade of blue? Do you like the shades showcased here or do you prefer this shade?
